Students of 2PC!
This is Chief Zoo Keeper Bobby Bob. I have asked your teacher to put you into groups of four.Within this group I need 2 zoologists (zoo veterinarians) and 2 eco-warriors (environmentalists) to help me build a habitat for 2 animals. In your group you must split up into pairs, so remember to chose a partner you work well with. With your partner you will take up your roles as either a zoologist or an eco-warrior, to create a suitable habitat based on the information you have collected for the animal. The information you and your partner have collected will be recorded in your journal books which the teacher will give to you. Once you, your partner and the other pair of students in your group has gathered all the necessary information for the first animal, you will all come back together to share and swap notes with what you and your partner have found in your research area. Notes to be recorded in journal book. You will then swap roles within your group, so that each pair will have a new role to play for the research of the second animal. This will ensure that you can have a turn at being a zoologist and an environmentalist, and give you the opportunity to experience the two different roles and responsibilities that are required.
Below is a brief description about the two different roles which you will be given:-
Zoologists: You will work with your partner to gather information about the animal’s health, wellbeing, social interaction and their behaviour.
Eco-warriors: Your task is to gather information about the animals needs for shelter, the climate they need to survive and about the animal in general if we were to find them in the wild.
Overall Task to be completed:-
Once you have the relevant information on both the animals, you will need to create a diorama for one of the animals you have researched. Include in the diorama the details of shelter, food, plants, etc. Your group will then present the diorama to the class, teacher and Chief Zoo Keeper explaining all relevant facts about the animals and their habitat, and why you have designed the habitat like it is.
You will now need to ask your teacher which two animals you have been assigned.
